Way from Quejo beaches
to the Arena
That 3 km long pedestrian and very nice path, is designed
by the brave Cantabrian sea. When weather is clear,
even the Basque Coast can be discerned from the Quejo
Cape located “in the North of the North”.
Tourism Initiative Centre
in Cincho Mount.
From the Tourism Office, crossing the Mies de la Hoz,
we reach the City Hall, where you start the ascension.
There is a cross in the summit (250 m.) and tradition
says that the oldest man of that site, climbs every
fifty years up to replace it.
In the way from “Marismas
del Joyel” to San Julian Church and Santa Basilisa.
Leaving the “Marisma”, we will pass along
a wooden footbridge. From there, towards the Corrales
area where there are the Jado tower and Santa Bárbara
hermitage. Going on to the road reaching Isla and Arnuero,
we can see another medieval tower in the Argatojo area
(Cabrahigo Tower) called here “El Torrín”.
Going up we will reach the Parish Church, arriving then
in front of the Palace of the Counts of Isla.
From the summit of the
hill to reach the Arena Beach. Arriving to the “Pine
Wood”, we will discern the “Castellan Mill”
in ruins, dated 1746. We keep walking along the river
called with the same name until reaching the Martyrs
hermitage, close to SP 4141 road Somo-Santoña.
